About the School

Our Patron

Dominic Savio was born to a peasant family of Mr. Charles Savio and Mrs. Bridgid at Murialdo in Northern Italy on 2nd April, 1842. The spiritual life of young Dominic was nurtured both at home and in his Parish Church where he learned an important lesson of charity and all his life he strived very hard to be very charitable. At 15, he had become a giant of the spirit, Pope Pius XI added : "He was, indeed, the perfection of Christian life, a life drawing it's strength from three main sources mainly PURITY, PIETY and ZEAL". On 9th March, 1857 the youngster, who longed to be a Saint, burst into ecstatic exclamation "Oh what a beautiful sight I see" before passing to his eternal reward. Dominic Savio died at a very young age of hardly 15 but his humble holiness in everyday life has given him saintly regard by others very soon after his death. He was declared venerable in 1933 by Pope Pius XI, and was beatified on 5th March, 1950 and was canonized and declared a saint on 12th June, 1954, by Pope Pius XII.
